The aim of the Association formed in 1988, is to promote the interest in Heavy Horses, working
in harness for demonstrations and entertainment purposes. Also to promote the use of the working horse as a practical energy source for agriculture and industry where viable.
In recent years as the population of working horses became depleted, many second quality foals not suitable for the showground have been put down. The Eastern Counties Heavy Horse Association provides a source of information for the promotion of these second quality foals, which would not meet the standards for showing and breeding but will grow into perfectly sound working horses capable of a genuine day,s work.
